Plastic separation explained

Our patented flotation process maximises the recovery of plastics from shredder residues.

The mix of rigid plastics is washed and placed in a flotation tank filled with a special medium. Unlike traditional processes that use salt, AD REM works with a pH-neutral substance that remains in suspension in the water. This means the medium can be fully recovered and reused, without corrosion or environmental impact.

The result: up to 70% of plastics previously destined for landfill are recovered, yielding separated fractions of chlorinated plastics, RDF plastics, PE/PP and PS/ABS.

Dense medium separation uitgelegd

Our patented flotation process maximises the recovery of metals from shredder residues.

The material, ASR, WEEE or IBA, is washed and placed in a flotation drum filled with a liquid of 1.4 kg per litre. Plastics float to the surface, metals sink. In a second step, we raise the density to 2.2 or 3.2 kg per litre to separate magnesium and aluminium from the heavy metals. The medium is recovered after each cycle.

The result: a separation efficiency of nearly 100%, yielding separated fractions of plastics, aluminium, magnesium and heavy metals — and a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions.
